Where Darwin wrote ‘On the Origin of Species” – Down House

This is the greenhouse at Down House in Kent, just south of London, where Charles Darwin lived and where he wrote On the Origin of Species. In this greenhouse Darwin cultivated and studied carnivorous plants (modern examples of which are growing there now). The strangely shadowy character in the photo is me. In fact, the main reason this photo is here is because I really like those strange shadows.
Sorry it’s in black and white and at an odd angle, but that’s to make it look arty (and in the case of the black and white to conveniently hide the hideous colour of the T-shirt I’m wearing).
